Can anyone help? Got the P&J out for a clean today ( first time this year ) and with MOT pending I thought I'd check the lights were working. Unfortunately the left hand dipped beam wasn't working. Tried taking the whole headlight out and checked the bulb, the bulb fitting and the housing that the light fits into when inserted back into the wing but to no avail. What do I look for next to try and love the mystery? Are both headlamps individually fused in the fuse box? :?: Unfortunately I'm not particularly good with DIY issues so any help and guidance gratefully received.

Hi.

Are you sure the headlight plug is going back correctly into the socket?

You can (IIRC) take the socket out of the wing/clip, and whilst the headlight is out there is enough spare wire so you can reconnect and test that it is/isn't the connector.

Poorly explained :wack:

Many thanks OC! Is the socket easy to remove from the wing?

Again from memory you can rotate it through 90 degrees, and it comes out of the clip.

Hang on....

Brilliant! Worked a treat. Took the headlight socket out of the clip and pushed it into the light - now working perfectly. Shame it didn't work in situ because the socket was new when I had the headlight guides replaced 18 months ago. I know many people suggest giving the headlight a good shove into the socket but I couldn't bring myself to do it. Thanks for your help OC much appreciated. :thumb:
