My indicator stopped working (911 c4 cab 02) on my near side headlight cluster, so ive taken it out using the tool expecting a blown bulb.
The bulb is fine but behind the headlight theres a metal plate with an earth wire attatched, but the plate is just loose in there.
Ive also notice that the headlight itself no longer works.

Where should this metal plate be attatched to? Im assuming thats my problem

Cheers

Phil

Ok, so it seems that piece of loose metal isnt the problem as I see its the same on both sides. The multiplug on the back of the unit look fine, bulb's ok

Any ideas ?

Cheers

Phil

There should be a multi-plug / multi-socket in the wing to mate with the headlamp:

The problem with the wonderful multiconnector is it falls off its bracket (the fixings can snap if the lamp is forced or hit)

You can see them all the way back inside at teh end of the headlamp runners:

EDIT: replied as you added new info.

Check the pins are all straight and mate OK, and both sides are clean etc.

Thanks for the pics. Ive checked the multiplug, nothing bent or broken and the bulb is fine.

Cant work out why its not working.

Bloody cars :?:

If it was both headlamps I would suspect the ignition barrel.

I realised there was a multi plug after I'd taken the unit out, hence no headlight working either, first Porsche so I'm learning all the time.
I've refitted the headlamp now and put it away for the night. I'll retry again tomorrow and give the multi plug a blast with wd40 to clean it out.

Its going in for the rear main seal replacing and a full check over next tuesday, so I'll get them to take a look at it if its not sorted by then.

Thanks for the info & help, its greatly appreciated as I'm only 6 days into my first Porsche ownership

Phil

Similar thing happened to me on mine in my first week. Then I pushed the headlight in a bit harder and it fixed it!

+1

When checking the multiconnector for damage, make sure the bracket itself is not deformed either (again a hard impact can do this)

Had this happen on my car and after much messing about checking connector, bulb etc, managed to get the indicator back working again by bending the loose metal plate in the housing to ensure it made decent contact with the bulb.
