Dear forum,

I am looking at a 993 tomorrow, previously supplied by Hanley Porsche in Leeds. These guys seem to have gone out of business and have disapeared.

Is there a reason why?? Or is there no worries buying a vehicle that's been in their stables?

Cheers, Martin

One thing you could do - call another specialist in the Leeds area and ask them.

No slur on Hanley - or on the car you are looking at - just a 'heads up' .........Be careful of dealer stamps in service books when the dealer has 'dissapeared'. Its not unknown for people to make up a stamp from a defunct (or completely ficticious) dealer to 'help ' with history. If you feel at risk - ask a specialist in Leeds.

I can help you out here....

Hanley Porsche ran out of Hanley, Stoke on Trent, up to about a year ago, when Steve.... sold it on to another guy, who seems to have run it for a bit and closed down if you can't find it. Certainly the website is now down.

I bought a very good 964 C4 from there in 1998 and chopped in my 944 S2 at the time. Come 2001 when I wanted to sell the 911 they offered to sell it for me, and what with one thing and another, and wishing to avoid any possible action for libel, I was not happy with what happened to my car during the time in their care. Suffice to say I took it elsewhere and had to replace a number of parts which seemed to have gone wrong whilst it was in the polluted air of Stoke before it was sold....

If teh car is sound there's obvoiusly nothing wrong with it, and they did have soem good cars , no doubt. Still, I do recommend you get it thorough checked over, and even buy one of our Guides to assist ( sportscarguides.com).

Happy hunting !
