Hi there,

I'm looking for a green 993 turbo.
It would ideally have brown/tan leather too.
Whilst waiting I would also consider a 996 and 997 turbo (same colour)

Slightly different – I had found a beautifully specced 996 4s, but owner friends veered me away from it due to price (I was in love with colour/vibe) and do like the 4s rear styling a lot.
Interested to know what people here think to the price/value. Please comment.

Anyway, if anyone know of any coming up or who has one that might consider selling I'd be grateful if you get in touch,

Many thanks,

I fear you're fishing in a very small pond.

In the current market that C4S is toppy in price but you could always try negotiating. The mileage is what's driving the asking price rather than desirability.

If you're stuck on that colour combo you may have a long wait - especially for a 997.

Good Luck

By saying green I am not including Aventurine as I personally don't consider that a true or particularly desirable green.

Thanks - I agree it is niche, but up for waiting it out. Maybe will get something in interim found, a very nice Turbo 997.2.

Funny enough just found this - https://www.carandclassic.com/auctions/1995-porsche-993-911-carrera-4-ndlb5n GREEN 993!
On sale now, BUT these smoke questions/answers feel a bit off.

Anyone got any input/thoughts?

That's Madalaa's old car.

He loved it but changed it for a Boxster about 7 years ago.

This will be of interest to you.

I think that green 996 is stunning, it's pricey based on current market prices, but you'd be very lucky to find another one, so you either pay it or you don't.
I thought my 930 was a silly price but it was the only one for sale in the spec I wanted, so I had a choice, pay it or don't.

I'd try and haggle hard on the 996, you never know.

A 993 Turbo in the spec you want will likely be £200k+, so fretting about paying £5k too much for a 996 @ £30k seems like something you don't really need to worry about, I'd just buy it personally. If you've got that sort of budget then it's small beer.

Oil leaks on an air-cooled cars are par for the course, not pouring out, that would be worrying, but I'm not sure I've ever seen one that doesn't drip a bit. You can cure most of it, but you end up chasing yourself up a pole to try and eradicate it 100%.

I think the smoking question was whether the bores are worn and oil finding it's way into the combustion area and smoking upon start-up, but the answers seem to indicate that's not happening.

There is nothing that would put me off from what I can see in the advert.

But with all these things, you've either got to get it properly looked over by an expert and even then he's not a fortune teller and they can only do their best. Or you take a punt and a bit of a risk and just buy it and take it on the chin if you end up having to throw money at it to turn it into your perfect car.

Again I use my 930 as an example, I paid top whack because I basically had to or do without, I had it checked by a well known expert, and I accepted that I'd have to throw some money at it to get it to my idea of perfect, I budgeted £20k to spend on it after purchase and I'll probably exceed that by a bit - bearing in mind this was a top end car for top end money that was described as very good condition and ready to drive away, which it was, but it still had some hidden gremlins, which all these old cars will have.

Hope this helps, I'm no expert by any stretch, but that's my personal experience as a buyer.
