Grahams 986 running thread

Stunning Graham; on all points. Let me know if you ever decide to sell. I like buying your cars once you've sorted them ;)

Thanks Colin. I have a couple more things to do in the next couple of week just to keep it as I like it! I will let you know if I put it up for sale but don’t hold your breath!
Did I see the 996 sold?

Indeed it did! Now resides in Belfast. The new owner may appear on here at some point as he followed your thread 🙂 (y)

The car has not been worked on that much in the last couple of months due to works on the garage and tools etc being stuck behind the temporary doors. All sorted now and a few bits and pieces to tinker with in the weeks ahead!

I had bought some new speakers to go with the new head unit and for those familiar with the 986/996, there were some Alpine Speakers which everyone uses but as those are not currently available, I tried some Rockford Fosgates which seem to have a good reputation. I finally got around to fitting them today and very pleased with the sound they make in combination with the Sony Head Unit.

It was a surprise to find out that the original speakers to have tweeters and they came out surprisingly easy!

The fitting kit from super_paulie on eBay was brilliant. I am sure you can cut the originals and glue new speakers in the old mounts but for less than £30 it looks original and it's a job you can do whilst your tea cools!

Whilst I had the Torq tools out, I had a look at the heater sensor to see if there was anything obvious wrong with it and it was actually clogged with dust. After taking out and cleaning with ears sticks, t's definitely controlling temperatures better now clean and I am off to a car meeting in the morning and will see how the heater works on a cold morning!

Well, a good run out in the cold this morning and the heater all works throughout the temperature ranges and reacts to opening windows etc. I didnt get to try it with the roof off but very pleased with a simple fix!

A proper chilly morning at the Legends meeting in Westerham this morning and overall, the heater played ball including with roof off on the way home. It’s been a few weeks since I have had the roof down and must admit, I have been thinking about 911s or Caymans but roof off and no looking in the classifieds for me!
