So picked the car up after driving it to London about 6 weeks ago.
It got a full Geo set up again by Centre Of Gravity near Coventry, due to the KW front springs letting me down after the last Geo. I then drove it down to London to leave it with 9 excellence for a major service and remap.
They managed to find two boost leaks on the car, the main one was from a clip on the diverter valves which was allowing boost to escape. After they addressed this and were happy there was no more boost leaks they gave the car a major service.
The car only received a major service last year and this service according to the service schedule should have been a minor one, however with the remap I felt it best to give it a major one and a full clean bill of health. So all fluids including engine oil, gearbox oil, coolant and brake fluid was replaced, along with spark plugs, oil filter and pollon filter etc.
During the service they discovered that there was a substantial leak from the two front side rads, I knew going over that I was loosing coolant and suspected the rads but was hoping it would be a small leak from a coolant hose, however it wasn't and the two side rads and condensers had to be replaced. They also found that the brake lines on the front were corroded and recommended changing them. These were replaced with Goodridge braided lines front and rear. I was starting to get a judder when releasing the clutch, this started to appear about two weeks before dropping the car off. The lads at Centre Of Gravity suggested that the engine mounts might be to blame, so I got 9 excellence to change the two mounts for some RSS tarmac series ones, this has cured the judder so the mounts were to blame.
The car was going over with two deep scratches on the passenger side rear quarter panel, caused by myself when cleaning the car by the wiper falling down inverted and scratching paint another one on the front passenger wing and a front bumper and rear quarter panel with paint that was not 100% match, (rear panel painted before my ownership for cosmetic purposes). I decided to just bite the bullet and get these sorted while it was over there and Ken at 9 excellence got me a good price by the the crowd they use. Delighted to say it turned out great.
So after all the service items were complete they went about tuning the car.
They had the logs which I took from my original FVD remap and they were not overly impressed by them. The main guy at 9 exellence seems to know his stuff, I didn't understand pretty much anything he was talking about when he was referring to the tuning as he was referring to formulae and things I didn't have a breeze about. However I was confident. It was their stage 3 remap that I got, as the car had all the hardware already on the car to utilize that setup, including the uprated clutch, intercoolers, exhaust, cats, diverter valves and turbos. This stage 3 setup is rated at approx 600bhp running 1.2/1.3 bar of boost. They completed the tuning and informed me that they were happy with the results.

Stage 3
Performance improves from 60-130mph by approx. 5 seconds over standard performance of approx. 11.95 seconds regardless of model.
Importantly our maps are programmed in line with Porsche standards. Porsche target 11.76 Air Fuel Ratio (AFR) when on full boost
So the 60-130mph sprint should now take 7 seconds instead of the 12.
They then suggested that I may want to consider upgrading the brakes, this was something I had been contemplating for a while now so decided to do it, so they replaced the front brakes with some new GT3 6 pot motorsport callipers and 350mm GT3 discs.
So picked the car up on Friday and drove it 350 miles to Hollyhead for a Ferry home later that day, all I can say is im delighted with the results, the car is an absolute flyer and it's good to know that these gains have been achieved by a recognised tuner with a great reputation for reliably tuning these. Delighted with results, now its just to find a GTR to see how it fairs out
I would like to say a big thanks to Ken and Adam at 9 excellence and Chris and Pete at Centre of Gravity for all the work and help they have done and given me in relation to this car, im thrilled with the results and would highly recommend both companies. HUGE thanks :thumb:
