Not been happy with the gear change on the C4 for a while 1st to 2nd not smooth at all and reverse difficult at times. Bled the system changed the engine mounts for 993 units no real change. Finally it stopped going into any gear whilst out last week.
Decided to replace the slave and master cylinder which has cured all issues and now its as smooth as can be... Result :thumb:

Was this a DIY job? Could you walk us through it? Also did you do the 993 work yourself, I have a set but am nervous about doing it.

Pleased you sorted your problem out though :)

I'm not sure if yours is a 993 or a 996, but curious to know how/what started the gearbox issue and how you sorted it.

Issues can be cable linkages, clutch adjustment and after that, gearbox strip and rebuild to find the cause. Curious to know more aboutn how you tracked down your problem and fixed it and was it for 996 or 993?

Not DIY in my case most is done via an Indy. As for my issue on the 964 it started to get tougher to engauge 1st and 2nd gear and progressively got worse. There are a number of posts about possible causes most of which where checked through over the last two months as the issue progressed. One morning the clutch pedal had dropped below its normal position, the slave cylinder was finally identified as the issue I decided to change the master at the same time.

That's good news for you - far cheaper than a syncho problem requiring a gearbox strip and rebuild. It will be helpful for other members to know that gear crun ching can have a simpler cause such as clutch adjustment and/or cable alignment between stick and gearbox.
