Front wheel arch paint protection?

My 996 has quite a few stone chips in the front wheel arches where the metal of the arch seems to be exposed to flying stones, etc... The liner doesn't cover that 2cm or so of metal that bends into the arch. I'm just about to touch these in, however is there any recommended way of covering them over as I can see these just getting chipped again?

I would have thought this is a common problem, but I couldn't see anything.

I have exactly the same problem on my bassalt black C2! I've just touched them in so far but they look tatty. I'm thinking that it might need a coat of 'stone chip' followed by paint, a job for a bodyshop I think.

Thanks - ordered 1m x 25mm from ebay and will see if that does the trick!
