Well after all that was said only a few weeks ago....

Ewell-By-Pass this morning; very nice and highly polished N reg LHD 993 Carrera travelling in parallel (hooray, had an excuse to take the car out today!!!)

Not even a smile when I waved and said hi ....

Whats the point of owning one if you're that miserable?

And they don't appreciate the "finer" things in life...

That's criminal. I fully intend to continually grin like an idiot when I get mine.

Did he see you? I feel bad sometimes when I see other Porsche driver flashed at me but I hadn't seen it coming. By the time I realise and react to it, they've driven past. I guess they'll think the same about me?

Anthony says this was travelling in parallel. Absolutely no excuse. Clearly the guy should be driving a Chrysler Crossfire...

Travelling alongside each other having been overtaken by snails!

Ewell-By Pass is not a high speed zone from 8:00 onwards.

Maybe I should have bought an MGB?

Don't let the tit grind you down.. your car has more class

(and thats comming from a 993 owner)

Keep on flashing guys! Even if its a clunky 924 or 914 through to a GT3, give it a wave!

Ciao

Paul

I flashed a 924 owner the other day, who by the look on his face was surprised to be flashed by a 993. But got a wave back.

Having just bought a 911 sc i have noticed that a lot of other porsche drivers blank me. When driving down the road in my old mini cooper every other mini driver used to flash and wave, it was like being in a club where you knew something that everyone else didn't.

Shed17,

WELL DONE!!!

I bet it really made the guy in the 924's day to get a flash from a 993 owner.

My first Porsche was a 924.. I absolutely loved it.. but as a 924 owner you can at times feel a bit like an imposter, that your not worthy somehow... I think its all in the mind because you wish you could afford the more expensive kit, but many a 924 owner has gone on to buy the more expensive kit like my collection of now 3 Porsche cars (993, Boxster and 944), which when I owned the 924 I never thought I could afford.

I always flash 924's, and when I dont get a flash or a wave back, I think its often because they as so shocked that a 993 has flashed them! By the time its sunk in, and by the time they have looked in the rear view mirror in a "Does he mean me?" kind of way, you have passed him by.

On the subject of the Porsche I have owned, one thing must be said.. the 924 may have been the slowest Porsche I have owned, but it was screwed together better than my Boxster (well the wifes Boxster) and possibly went round corners better than many of the Porsche models I have owned in the past.

Mitch.... I know what you mean about mini's... A friend of mine has a old 80's mini that he loves.. I was shocked when he gave me a lift in it one day that EVERY mini that came the other way flashed him!!! I had another friend with an old Land Rover and he used to get the same thing... I would love to see the day when Porsche owners flash at each other on a regular basis.

We all know the stories of 996 and Boxster drivers not waving/flashing, BUT has anyone ever got a smile from a Cayenne driver?

William

Once a Cayenne onwer smiled at me - but on reflection maybe it was a grimace as he saw his reflection.
