Well, after 4.5 years and 60K miles (over 20K of which on track), my motosport LSD finally stopped doing the business.

This is what it looked like when it came apart. Notice the top & bottom washer in the stack were both broken, one of them into 2 pieces

The plates were very smooth & obviously past their best. Finally, a couple of shots of the completed diff prior to being put back in the car.

Car feels really tight again. It's now on a transporter & on its way down to trackdays at Monza & Mugello next week. It should go well now. I'm driving the GT2 down there on Saturday & then off on an Alpine adventure after Italy.

It's a hard life :D :thumb:

Good work, you have to suffer for what you enjoy sometimes.. Enjoy the trip.

Hard life Nick. Have fun, lots of pictures please.

It lives!

Have a great trip, hope it pi553s down :floor:

Cheers guys.

Cunno has lent me his GoPro so I hope to do one of those "accelerated road trip" videos. I'm no photographer but I'll do my best to document the trip.

If you have a suction mount try getting a few different exterior shots to help mix up your footage :thumb:

I love the fact you have done so many track miles, using the car as intended :thumb:

Wish I had the time and money to do the same, but this work thing keeps getting in the way :)

Carry on with the good stuff and have a good time in Italy

Great stuff, enjoy your trip.

I hope you have plenty of spare batteries and SD cards for the go Pro as it eats them.

I turned the resolution down to 720, one card would last over a day. This give a more manageable file size, and picture quality is still excellent. Turn it off and on again very now and again to start a new file, otherwise you will spend ages ploughing through them. I try and do it every village, and speak about what the last one was, as a quick reminder.

I needed three batteries per day.

Cheers for the tips Peter :thumb:

I only have 1 battery but I'm hoping it can be left powered off the fag lighter all day? I have 3 x 32MB cards + my laptop to download to every night so should be OK on that front.

IIRC only the Hero 3 can record while charging - worth checking out before you set off.

You can pick up spare batteries relatively cheaply...

As I'm off in 20 hours, picking up batteries isn't really an option now. Luckily, although it's only a lowly GoPro2, the manual confirms that you can charge the battery while the unit is in use 8)

Cool. If you decide you do need/want some spare batteries then most electrical retailers (Curries, Comet, John Lewis etc) usually stock GoPro accessories, albeit for a hefty premium...

Looking forward to seeing some footage :thumb:

Yeah, having bought a bag of flat & curved GoPro mounts for £20, I had realised that buying the genuine stuff would be a tad pricey.

I'm trying to keep the budget in check a bit (£1000/day is keeping it in check, right?), but what with taking 2 cars, doing 3K+ miles in a car that struggles to see over 20MPG, etc., etc. the last thing I wanted to do was buy over-priced batteries for a device I don't even own!
