Fed up of grounding your GT3/aerokit etc splitter ?

I am. It was brand new and freshly painted 3 weeks ago. Despite careful driving it looks rubbish now :-(.

I'm thinking a discreet fitted rubber/pu trim (similar to that used on some bike screens) would be just the job for hiding those unsightly scuff marks (especially on lighter colours), and could be replaced periodically for a few quid. Anyway I've found a supplier and he's sending me a sample - will update the results when I get back off my hols if anyone's interested and I'll post up the contact details to sort yourselves out ?

Get the black plastic one and treat it as a consumable :)

Thought of that dan and I might end up going that route but it seems such a Shame when I've got this freshly painted one ! How much is the plazzy one ?

I think I saw it mentioned on PH the other day for about £60 - £80, can't find the thread now which is sod's law.

I've had this problem

I've had this issue with my aero kit as well.
Scrapes every time I go onto my drive.

Just bought a place rubber gt3 splitter from OPC guildford. I think it was around £180 ish all in.

Ultimately I'm going to need a front lift kit, been looking for a while and think I'll have to take the plunge soon. At least that solves the problem and removes the risk.

When you say lift kit do you mean something that's adjustable ? If so sounds pricy! Tbh - I also get a little embarrassed around town when I crawl (with gritted teeth!) up to speed bumps and there's traffic behind  wouldn't change it though - looks MEGA!!

Lift kit

Yes, essentially you replace your struts/springs with coilovers with integrated air bags which lift or drop when required.

It's not cheap but as mine scrapes every time I go up or down my drive I'm seeing it as cheaper than moving house. :D

Scraped my new replacement a couple of times already, mostly driving in/out of peoples driveways. Missus gets out and is like 'you'll clear that'....'cruunnch' (she had to walk home :D)! So now I just treat it as an expendable item to be replaced every so often.

I have the black one on my guards red car. You quickly learn where not to go and never take a sloping driveway straight on - always full lock on and off.
After 2 years I still have not replaced mine - sanded it down a few times with wet and dry though :)

Looks fantastic in guards red! Love the gt3 bonnet vent too. Not sure I'm brave enough to cut a hole in my bumper although its do-able as I banked a respray of the pu by the nice people at virgin911 so could get them to do it I've seen the vents on ebay which are reasonable but has anyone any experience of them or know what an original costs?

GT3 grill installation carried out by previous owner - probably floored the front end as the PU has been fully resprayed and or replaced. I think the grill is about £50 and the black splitter about £150. Better view of the vent.

That really is a stunning car and that front grill def' sets it off a treat. I think you might have just cost me some money lol !! Tbh - every single 997 I looked at had been painted due to stone chipping.

Not that it was a 997, but I just fitted the £30 Cup one to my 996 with AeroKit.

Held on with the expanding plastic rivets.

My view was it is a sacrificial consumable: I'd rather lose the front splitter than split the front PU.

+1 on the black plastic splitter - previous owner of my car had it fitted and I've scraped it a few times. I personally think it looks better than the original but that may depend on car colour.

Why not store your painted one and get it re-sprayed & re-fitted when you eventually come to sell up?

Does the 996 one fit 997? £30 is nothing.
