DAVIDSON IS BAR'S SECOND CHOICE

Anthony Davidson will race for BAR in 2005 if Jenson Button is allowed to move to Williams.


F1’s Contract Recognition Board will rule on Saturday whether Button must stay with BAR or can move to Williams.


If BAR lose out then Richards said he would have no hesitation in rewarding Davidson with a race drive, following his massively impressive testing performances this season.


He told Italian magazine Autosprint: "If our claims are successful we'll carry on with Button and Sato.


"Otherwise in place of Jenson I really think that I'll go with Anthony Davidson as race driver. During the Friday tests he's always shown terrific potential."


Richards has previously said he is “very relaxed and confident” that the CRB will find in BAR’s favour.


But the news that he would opt for Davidson to replace Button is another blow to fellow Brit David Coulthard’s hopes of landing a top drive for 2005.
