Expectations for buying a new Porsche

Had trhe same when I bought the Macan at an OPC. I discovered an issue which the OPC closer to me rectified, no questions asked.

You pay a 20% premium for buying OPC, I have to say, I have noticed the difference, to the point of renewing the warranty every year. Worry free motoring.

The last car I bought from an OPC that was outside of the x3 year manufacture warranty, I used the used approved warranty (it’s not the same as the original manufacturers warranty) as the bargaining tool. In simple terms ask for a price without the warranty (it should be c£2.5k less) and that gives you a guide as to what you should be able to negotiate off the sticker price ie try to agree that price as a maximum with with the warranty included.

Its worth noting if a car has the balance of the manufacturers warranty (ie less than 3 years old) the 2 year used approved warranty starts after this ie I’ve bought cars in the past with 12 months manufacturer and 2 years used approved so in effect 3 years of warranty (the manufacture warranty is more comprehensive though)…

It also depends on the car, the time of year/mth etc… etc….. In effect over the last few years I have always done the negotiation over the phone as I was buying a particular car from any OPC. That was on the basis the car should be more or less perfect so no need to see it. I even got one that was PPF but not advertised as such as they did not even realise until I collected it lol

The worst deal I’ve ever done on used approved was £500 off the sticker price BUT I knew they had already underpriced the car so it was still a good deal……….oh and try to get them to throw in a porsche experience day if you can, its great fun and worth £500 in itself ;-)

A friend has bought 2 used Porsche’s from OPCs since 2020. He was able to negotiate £1000 off each car. Hope that helps.
