I'm hoping to get out of my company car this summer, and would love to drive a c.1973 911. I'd have to do about 300 miles a week and would have to leave the car outside. I'm I kidding myself I can do this? I know very, very little about mechanicals and stuff but then you only live once.
Anyone know of any dealers in the home counties selling them?

you can leave the car outside in a drive or in a private parking space , I've left my Targa outside for many years , no problem . If you mean on the street , forget it , it will be a magnet for thieves and vandals .

Hi Richard

A decent 73 911 that isn't a rust bucket will set you back £10K - £15K, depending on whether you can live with LHD. It will need fairly constant maintenance, remember these are 30 year old cars, and a 40 year old design.

I would seriously consider, at that money, a late 80s Carrera 3.2 or 964 C2 or C4. You get the looks, but with reliability, water tightness, better perforance and economy.

You need to consider the Insurance aspect as with historic cover you are usually restricted on mileage.

There is a list of dealers at

Thanks for all that. I'll check out the dealer link, and let you know how I get on!
