Hello,

I am doing a project in college where a car drive train has to be designed. I have chosen to use a GT3 engine but cant find any sort of overall dimensions for it. The obvious thing to do is use some other engine but the measurements I can find are either for older, enormous american V8s or engines which just wont suit my needs. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Hi Brandon,
You are unlikely to find dimensioned drawings or sketches of the complete engine floating around the net or in books, as there aren't usually many situations where someone would need the information in this form.

Your best bet would probably be to speak to a local Porsche dealer or independent Porsche workshop about your project and ask them if they'd allow you to come along with a camera, notebook and tape-measure when they next have GT3 or Turbo engine removed from a car.
(I mention the Turbo as it is basically the same engine as the GT3 with the same oil tank attached to its front end and there are more of them around, but it does of course have different induction and exhaust systems).

Hi Red993C4, thanks for the reply. Think your suggestion is the only option.

Regards

B
