Easiest and cheapest way to get into Porsche racing

Being a front runner isn’t important for me now, I’d be trying but I’ve got nothing to prove anymore, it’s more about a hobby and the social side of things.

Club racing in my experience is more relaxed than track days, no one is pretending to be something or trying to prove anything, the results speak for themselves and generally everyone is there for fun and a weekend away.
My wife enjoyed it at least as much as me, the wives have a great social thing going on.

I know a bloke who won a few million on the lottery and he went club racing for a year just to ground himself whilst he got his head around it.
You meet all sorts.
I’ve no idea on the costs as there seems to be lots of options but Rindt do packages.

Boxster cup?
Arrive and drive?

What’s the easiest and cheapest way to have a season at it just for fun?

Caterham run a package that includes everything, I wondered if anyone on the Porsche side did the same?
As for an "arrive and drive" package, it's definitely a great way to get into racing without having to deal with all the logistics. Porsche doesn’t offer a full package like Caterham, but there are companies that provide race ready cars and support for the Boxster Cup. You could look into rental options from racing teams or companies that specialize in motorsports. It’s not the cheapest hobby, but it’s one of the most fun. A season of fun? Definitely worth exploring

I thought about the Caterham package, I've owned a 420R and their racing package is great, you get a lot of support and it's a great way into racing.

But I want to race Porsches, and specifically 911s preferably because I'm not saying I'm any good but the weight bias feels really nice to me and I feel like I gel with a rear engine much more than a mid or front engined car.

I still might have a look at the Boxster stuff, but if I can (and it's not silly money) then I'd really like to be able to have a go at racing a 911.
Maybe rallying is another option to consider, perhaps a one-off rally abroad that's a bucket list type thing, perhaps I should email Richard Tuthill.
