Driving perfection

After too many days of entertaining family, eating too much and trying to fit 20 tonnes of cardboard and paper into the recycling bin I managed to get out in the GT2 for an hour and it reminded me exactly why I love these cars so much. The roads were wet, the car was skipping around, understeering and trying to speed up the earth's rotation when it got grip. The whole experience is driving perfection for me, rev-matching, feeding in the power, loading up the front of the car to turn in, such a complete experience.

I got back home with a grin on my face and ready to face the next round of visitors.

Nothing else to say really, just a bit of 911 appreciation :)

Argh! Stop that right now!

Both of mine are presently tucked up & I'm missing them terribly. Going out & spanking the Merc, fun though it is, doesn't really scratch the itch.

You're right though Gav, there's nothing like a really good blast in a Porsche to reinvigorate :thumb:

Well said! And, as ever, a cracking looking GT2.

I did much the same on Boxing Day, no grip, loads of minor slides, ABS going nuts = ALIVE!!! :thumb:

Mine came out for a spin last Sunday at Brighton, forgot how good it sounds...no grip so had to be very careful.

Great post Gav. I had two days of heavenly, quiet-ish roads up in the Cotswolds this Xmas with one particularly fine drive through the misty sunshine on Boxing Day morning. Ended up having a nice chat with Harry Metcalfe in the Shell garage that day too. Really good guy. Maybe someone on this forum may actually know who he is.. my friends certainly don't... :)

So happy with my GT3 it's an absolute cracker.

Harry Metcalfe...? Great meet! Pity he's left EVO now...

Hey Maxie. Yes and really nice guy. We spoke about his new job with Honda (I think it was?) and at the time I didn't realise even his garage section would go from Evo - I always really enjoyed that bit in the magazine.

Harry works for Jaguar iirc

That would make more sense :)

Back on topic. On Thursday 2nd saw what looked to be GT2/3 bombing down the M26 and then onto the M20 and up the A229 where it appeared to be joining the M2. I saw it looming from way back on the M26 and decided to give chase. It lost me slightly on the merge from M20 to A229 but I caught it before it turned off. I think it slowed going up the A229 as the road was awash with surface water half way up (probably encountered some aquaplaning here  ).

As it was dark it was difficult to get detail but it seemed to be black or grey (dark coloured at least - reg GJ10 ###) and have red wheels but the spoiler was not carbon fibre and looked like A GT2 type rather than a GT3 :?: .

I was giving chase in a Mini GP :D .

Anyone here?

Pip

Envious as always Gavin - good on you for continuing to put miles on the beast.
