Unfortunately my exhaust boxes have corroded and are blowing. Not a total surprise after 80k miles and 15 years. I've been offered a pair of dansk sports exhausts. Just wanted feedback from anyone out in 911uk land who may have them fitted to a 996.

Cheers all
Adam

Greetings
See a thread somewhere below "996 c2 exhaust".

I got the Dansk Sport exhaust a few months ago on my 1999 C2, and am a happy man. Nice snear all the way, clearly a lift from OEM.

Obviously I havnt tried the myriad of possibilities thats on the market, but I can vote for this.

Kind Regards

My Dansk Sport silencers arrive on Monday and will be fitted next week, so I'll let you know how I get on!! Make sure to sort out new exhaust fittings/clamps/bolts etc., as the original stuff is more than likely a pile of rusty crusty metal.

Hi, I have dansk exhausts on my 98 c2. My neighbour has standard pipes on his 03 c4. He's very jealous.

Thanks for your replies, will give them a try and let you know the outcome in a week or two :thumb:

Dansk Exhaust

I went with the Dansk and the sound is fantastic. Even my air cooled driving friends are envious.

But.

At 3,000 rpm / 70 moh it makes a horrid drone. 2,500 or 3,500 rpm and it disappears. So makes cruising a little challenging if stuck in heavy traffic.

But overall a joy :-)

Surely, this isn't acceptable, is it? After all, the exhaust's not advertised as 'Great most of the time, but cr@p between 2,500 and 3,500 revs'.

If I were you, I'd contact Dansk and ... consumer rights and all that ... tell/ask them to find a solution. Or, if you don't want to do that, find a good exhaust guy to tune out the resonance.

Tuning noise?

I suspect it'd be a waste of time going to Dansk. The drone is I'm quite sure within some sort of technical 'acceptable' noise level. It's an overall resonance that booms inside the car. Unpleasant and, well horrid.

I'm in North London and would happily see what a specialist could do. Any recommendations?

Cheers!

So I have Dansk Sports Boxes on my C4s and they are very quiet, so you need to make sure you understand the range.

They do 3 different types.

OE

Sports

Super Sound

OE are very quiet.
I find the Sports too quiet and am going to have some kind of bypass mod on them to get them sounding a bit more like an OEM PSE.

Super Sound - Have a very high decibel number so can only assume they are the ones causing the drone.

Quality wise they are excellent, I have seen the OE ones off the car and they look very good, the sports ones on mine I've only seen from looking underneath but still look very well built.

Cheers fastmonkey. Not sure which I went for as it was last year. I know I ruled out the loudest - I'm sure mine are Sports.

Noticed you have moved C4S's. Would you recommend as I'm thinking of either doing my IMS and keeping my C2 or switching to a C4S. What would you suggest? Cheers.

Well I'm on my 2nd so I might be a bit biased ! I realise it looked like I had 2 in a row so I've changed my sig now.

I love them, I tried all sorts before buying another one, but nothing quite has the mechanical / analogue feel of a 996 for me. The C4S I choose on looks alone really, as I think the hips and rear end are perfect.

It's a bit heavier than a standard c4 but I don't really notice it and love the extra turbo spec bits.

Anniversary might be worth a look as you get the power kit and big spec.

I thought of the Anniversary. But I'd probably just keep mine and do an engine rebuild / add the famed 'Y inlet'.

Difficult choice - think I need to try a C4S. I agree on the looks. I'm also conscious of finding one that's a 'keeper', know what I mean? One that the investment of doing a rebuild etc will be worth it as it'll still be with me in ten more years...........! :-)

Exactly what I found with RSR's.

However, Gert at Carnewal kindly offered to change mine and said I may have had a rogue set.

It's possible with yours too I would imagine.

I had the 'Sport' version fitted to my 996 C4. My indie advised me not to fit the 'Super Sound'.
'Sport' was fine :thumb:

All this talk of great sounding exhausts is fantastic....my Dansk 'Sport' (300S) silencers are being fitted tomorrow morning with new mounting hardware etc.
