I'm looking for my dream car at last - i've sold mine and am going for a 993 cab - there are a couple of HPI recorded repaired ones around at quite a lot off the retail of a mint one - are they really worth looking at?

Any pitfalls on a recorded one - apart from resale problems?

thanks for your help guys.

Havn't found any problems yet, mines a 95 993 cab, 2 owners, fpsh, 50k miles, obviously somebodies pride and joy, damage was not that severe, front wing, front wheel well, wish bone etc, put a set of 18" sport classic wheels and Continental tyres, had the 4 wheel alignment done, took it for a VIC check, the inspector just happened to be an ex workshop manager for a main London Porsche Dealer, best not say which one, he really had a thorough look and gave it 10/10 for the repairs, basically it was an uneconomical repair, at £700 for a new wing i can see why, at about 14k below list price i think it was a bargain.

I am just looking for the cheapest possible 996 and the CAT d's look like a bargain, anyone out there with a bad experience? I have a detency to buy CAT d's due the the price and my past Mercs and the like have been great at hold the money coz I got them at such knock down prices!

Be very careful. A lot of the Cat D cars that are selling at really low money may not have been repaired properly, or done on the cheap.

The most important thing to find out is who carried out the repair. If it was not a Porsche specialist who has access to the correct jigs, quality staff and has a reputation to maintain, I personally would walk.
