Daft First Time Buyer Questions

Hi all, first post etc etc

The time may have come. The 996 seems to be more affordable than ever so it may be time to take the plunge. Have been looking around at at my price point I really looking at a 98/99 996. Decided on a C2 as I could do with a bit of boot space, exterior colour not that important, interior must be black or grey and preferably the GT3 alike body kit (cos I'm a sucker for the look), and I like the look of the sports seats.

But practicalities . . . and I know its not the most practical car but I have a Caterham 7, which comes on holiday, so I know all about space compromise. But, can I get a child seat in the back of the 996? i.e. can I physically get a child seat in and once that is in (and fitted properly) can a child sit behind the passenger seat easily?

Apart from 'where is the money coming from?' the wife's second hurdle is the 'child'.

So assurances much appreciated.

Thanks.

LoFi

Welcome to the forum. Children are certainly not a hurdle. There have been quite a few threads about child seats and I regularly get my niece & nephew in my Targa and they're 10 and 7 years old. Mind you, I'm only 5'8" so leg room is never going to be a problem.

Get out there and get looking but don't just buy the first one you see and make sure that you get any Porsche you are thinking of buying, inspected by a specialist.

Good luck

I take it 'Nonny' is about 8ft long and drives with his knees hooked over his ears? :)

Think I saw a 996 with the full GT3 aerokit at Northways??? Can't remember the price off hand but their cars are normally pretty good value.

Now that's the best news I've had all day. I guess a set only fits behind the seats, not in the boot!? Which at this time of year means mud and wet in the back, yuk. Guess my saloon with the rubber boot liner still has its uses :)

There is room in the front for the golf trolley, the bag shouldn't be that dirty (unless you have been kicking it over fury).

And if you try really hard you can get two sets in the back!
