Can anyone tell me what size the Security Torx bit is on the MAF sensor... want to order the right size bit set.

What is the standard coolant in the 996.2? Looking to do the low temp thermostat change this weekend and want to make sure I have enough to top it up to full.

Got a busy schedule of maintenance this weekend. Front PU off, clean out gunk. Oil and filter change etc...

Thanks

Use Porsche's own coolant or (if you can find it) Elf coolant which I believe to be of the same quality/standard as Porsche's.

I wish I could credit myself for that answer but inevitably I am passing on GT4's knowledge.

Although, for a couple of extra quid you could get every one you'll ever need*

I just purchased a litre of coolant from the main dealer and it was £11.00 But I also enquired at Europarts and they too sell the specific equal coolant for a couple of pound cheaper. I elected for two quid to buy the factory stuff.

The only problem I have is that the only OPC is far, far away from me. Exeter or Bristol I believe so I cant just pop in and get some coolant!!

I really don't want to put any old crap in, its a long life type coolant, pink if I am correct in saying so. What coolant can I get just for a top up from a local Halfords or other motor factor which is going to be up to scratch. Does it have to be a specific grade....

Im going to follow GT4s post very carefully thanks :thumb:

I have bought the Wahler 71deg with housing...I was told by the indy its a good item as whaler supply the OEM part...hopefully it will help the cars longevity.

Also doing the GT4 bumper mesh upgrade this weekend

Thanks very much, that really is so helpful :thumb:

So, the "white smoke" wasn't a cylinder head gasket, then?

I think it was the unbelievably damp warm conditions around here. Not only did the exhaust fill with condensation, but when it escaped the exhaust it lingered. I think it lingered because it was so stupidly humid the steam didn't simply evaporate away but hung around for an unusual length of time.

Its not happened since! I am still starting the car whilst stood outside the car though, probably look like a total tw*t
