Those who have seen it will know this car needs some paint. I was going to bare metal re-spray the bonnet, paint the wings, the front and rear bumper and the scuttle(windscreen out). There is a bit of chipping on the edge of doors and now I think I might take the back screen out to re paint that area and roof.

That would leave doors/rear wings and insides of wheel arches/doors/engine bay.

I think the car would look amazing in midnight blue with the contrasting interior. If done properly would it still be worth the same as if I just repainted zenith?

Why change from Zenith? For me it's a fantastic colour! Remember dark colour cars show every bit of dirt and imperfection. Respray it Zenith, it will look brilliant, plus you won't devalue the car.

A change to a different colour is a very different proposal.

I could kind of understand if you were changing it to speed yellow or lime green.

Ok it will stay original.

I was just considering it as I absolutely love this car. I cant say why I appreciate this so much more than the others iv owned but i do. I passed my driving test in 98 so im going for the spiritual feel (97/98).

I am considering respraying the whole car when the time comes. So was considering choosing a colour that I would pick now if i could order the car new! I wouldn't chose zenith blue as much as i like it so that was where i was coming from.

Im sticking with the zenith so were all again at peace!! ;-)

So in two posts you've changed your mind.

My advice is don't ask for advice.

Do whatever you fancy. Who cares if the value goes down?

(or are you another secret 'investor'?)

Yeah Im like that. I change my mind.

I asked because if the majority had said if you do it in a decent colour its unlikely to make a difference i would have thought hard about it. As it is, it still sounds like it frowned upon and I don't dislike zenith its just not what i would have chosen when new.

I dont plan to sell.

Balls to the majority. (of 3).

I think you should change it.

Won't hurt the value if someone decent does it and includes the engine bay/boot etc.

I'm with Kim on this, Riviera blue all day long! 8)

He didn't ask 'should I change it?'

He asked if it would hurt the value, and it will.

1) because prospective buyers will be put off ANY colour change - lack of originality always devalues
2) a rare colour like zenith replaced by common midnight?

If he had asked 'should I change it?' I might have given a completely different answer.

:?:
Blues a horrible colour lol - but midnight's a shi**y blue and Zenith is amazing (for a blue)
Stick with Zenith or respray in speed yellow obviously

Thanks lads, I was starting to think we were having an off day!!
