Cobra Nogaro seats

I have standard comforts in my 996. They are in good condition for 100k, although I'm 6 ft 1, and they sit too high for me and lack lateral hold. So I'm looking for alternative options sitting lower (ideally around an inch).

I'm considering going with fixed buckets as I never use the back of the car, and perhaps just removing the rear seats. Although I'm a bit apprehensive buying seats I can't try first, especially with no adjustment, as I'm prone to back discomfort.

Cobra offer seats with fitment specifically designed for 996 which seem to give good mix of sports plus general usability. I called up the retailer and of course they said they are wonderful & perfect for my requirements, but there's no where I can try them. Details here:

Has anyone tried the Cobra Nogaro seats in their 996?

Apologies for the faceache link but it has certainly been done before:

Looks very nice (although I'm not a fan of the colours used here!).

I think someone around these parts has got some trimmed in grey to match their interior. For the cash I must admit they look like a better option than some second hand 997 sports seats!

Do keep the thread updated if you do go for some. Would love to see about the fitting process and your thoughts!

to be honest they dont look too bad at all when you opt for the circuit model

I have them in mine and they are very nice, been in over a year now. I got mine from a guy on the 996 owners FB page as he wanted black ones for his newly painted green car.

He used the ultra low mounts which sit you about as low as you can go.

The seats are comfortable and it really connects you with the car instead of sliding around on the normal Porsche seats.

PS: if you can get out to Wokingham I'm happy for you to try them out

In my experience, you really need to sit in the seat yourself, some look comfortable and aren't, others look awful and feel good. And then you need to fit the *****.

I've got a fixed bucket Sparco Evo II in the other car, on Sparco side mounts, and as it can be a right faff to get the seat exacty where you want it, and where it clears door cards and B pillars. There's just mm of clearance.

As such I'd always want to see one that has already been successfully fitted into a car before pulling the trigger.

These look magnificent!

They do look good nice alternative to recaro pole positions and GT3 buckets

I've a pair of Nogaros in my 996 C4 (& have had for over 2 yrs) on adjustable seat runners (forward/back), rather than in a fixed seat position which I believe would help the seat height. I have Nogaros as I find them more comfortable than the Porsche hard backed sports seats from this era which give me back ache, & I don't need normal access to the rear seats (now removed purely for cosmetic reasons!). My seats also use a standard type seat belt clip for ease of use.

Thanks very much for all the comments everyone. Very useful, and especially peterg1955 for letting me pop over today and have a try of his seats. Very nice & great looking seats, and would be great match for my space grey interior if going same spec as Pete's. Really high quality finish, and look like they are designed for the car. Also easy to get in / out with the lower thigh support than some competitors.

I now have a really good alternative to the 997 sports seats option which are around 9-10cm lower than the 996 comforts (I also measured these today). Pete's Nogara's are the same height as the 997 sports.

However there seems to be quite a lot of variation on height of the Nogaro's due to different mounting set-ups people have used. So I need to do some more research.

If you wanted to maximise headroom you could solid mount the driver's seat and put the passenger seat on runners, maybe even tilting ones if you wanted to retain access to the rear?

Minor inconvenience come lot time possibly.
