Howdy All!

Thought I'd blog my journey on here with modifying and refining my 993 C4.

I have been in the Porsche scene for a good 15 years having previously owned a 911 SC that had been converted into a 964 RS, a 964 Turbo, and a number of 996's, Caymans, & Boxsters, etc.

I'm more of a guy who likes to drive cars and use them daily than have a show or garage queens.

The car came for a fair price so this gives me the opportunity to upgrade and modify it to my taste.

The first job is to set up the driving position and style for me as I'm a lanky git so going to chop the rails to allow the seat to sit lower and change the steering wheel to a smaller diameter wheel.

Pictures and more updates to follow...

5. Full engine service
6. Fit RS engine mounts
7. Fit new door handle rubber seals
8. Fit new bumper to light rubber seals
9. Fit new 30mm Eibach Lowering Springs
10. Fit and paint Turbo S bumper air ducts
11. Fit new Continental radio
12. Fit and paint new high-level third brake light spoiler
13. Sand and clear coat all lights and reflectors
14. Reconolise the sports seats
15. Fit new steering wheel and boss.

Looking forward to watching the transformation. As an owner of a very personalised C4 keen to see any mod's I might want to try... starting with red seat belts in the black interior.

If you are going with red seat belts and callipers.... how about red fan, too? ;-)

EDIT: added pic to tempt you further.

Thank you for the interest, I think your suggestion of painting the fan red is a great idea and will look into this.

Looking forward to seeing your progress...........I was reluctant to swap for a smaller wheel as the 4 has relatively heavy steering......be interesting to see how you get on with it.

Ps we have a monthly meet 1st Saturday of the month in wilmslow......would be great to see the car there......nb the Sept is different as we are travelling to Mitton Hall on the Sunday.....there is a post in the meets section

Hiya nice thread, I look forward to the progress.

You mention you are fitting the high level 3rd brake light kit? If you haven't sourced and bought yet I've a full kit I am about to sell. The capping is blue but you'll be after paint anyway if you bought new.

" I have the full kit which I was going to install, I will however be selling this if any interest.

Whole kit is here, https://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod2511/Roof-Spoiler-Rear-Porsche-911-1974-98/?source=doofinder

Mine also comes with a new (but tested) led bulb set by Torre https://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod...e-light-LED-kit-99963113590/?source=doofinder "

PM if of help.

Ian

As another M reg aventura owner who is happy to customise, looking forward to following your progress!

I'd be interested to see how you tackle this - I presume that you're aware the seat runners have an alternative, further back set of mounting points...

Do they now? How big a job is that to do I wonder :?:

Apologies it's been a while, just haven't had the time to update etc the car due to workloads.

So progress has come a long way and hoping to get the car back just in time for Christmas.

I'll start adding a few more pics and details of the progress so far which was meant to be a recommissioning project that has since turned into a small restoration project as I'm sure most of these cars do!

So I might as well start right from the beginning!

I first viewed this car back in 2019 when it came up for sale on FaceBook marketplace, I know right not the best place to advertise a car, but you can probably guess the owner was a little bit quirky, to say the least but a genuinely really nice fella.

He had bought the car back in 2007 having sustained minor panel damaged and decided to fix it up and use it as a daily.

Just to set the scene when I went to view the car the chap had engines and gear box's all over his house and even a mini digger in his front lounge. Not to mention his passion for old V8 muscle cars that he was restoring. So yeah he was a bit of a tinkerer should we say, but a really nice and interesting chap to chat with.

The guy had a load of dealers messaging him about the car but it wasn't presented in the best light and wanted the car to go to an enthusiast not just to be flipped for profit. There were a couple of 993's that I was viewing at the time so I left the chap a bid on the car and that was that he just never came back to me. I think reading between the lines he didn't really want to sell the car and was just looking to see what prices he could get to maybe thrown into another project. Anyhow life got busy for me and then we entered into 2020 and the pandemic hit.

Like most with a bit of time on our hands, I started looking to see what was on the market and I was in communication with a chap down south with an orange 993 with a gt2 kit on it. It looked really great but I had a few concerns for mileage discrepancies, anyhow I tried to arrange a viewing when lockdowns were relaxed but he changed his mind and didn't want to sell, I'm guessing as prices had started to climb somewhat!

Luckily I had kept the number of the chap to the car I viewed in 2019 and arranged to go view the car again. After around 2hrs with the chap, he finally agreed to sell the car and we agreed upon a fair price for its condition which I was classing as a barn find!

Pics to follow .....

Here are a few pics of my specialist MLR who manufacture their own jacking points.

One of the points was damaged on my car and had subsequently bashed part of the sill in which had to be welded and fixed.

A nice little touch I think ...
