hi,

i posted on here about a month ago and got lots of good advice...was after a boxster convertible but so many peopl said 'hairdresser car' 'poor man porsche' etc and it sort of helped change my mind, well made me look at 911s anyway...im still not 100% and was after some advice on the 911s.

I like the 996s and am still after a convertible...any recomendations??....can i still use this car everyday, mon - fri will only actually get a short run(10 miles) to work and back,is this bad for it??

Can someone please tell me what PCM means.........if i do stretch to a 911 i can probably only get about 25/26 grand....anything good at this price??

also like to know if running costs, fixing cost and Insurance are laods more?

Thanks guys...I know nothing about cars really and your help is second to none!!

PCM is Porsche Communication Management i.e. Sat Nav etc. The other guys will tell you what your money can buy better than I. Have you considered an aggressive Hire Purchase deal with a balloon payment to get you into better car by keeping monthly repayments low. I am a finance broker and would be happy to help, give you some advice and sample deals etc. I also know some very competitive insurers brokers you might want to talk to. If you need help, send me a private message with your contact details.

Nick,

I use my Cab everyday, good news is you should also get a hardtop (it was standard on the 996) for the winter. PCM is Porsche Communication something, comes in version 1 and 2, 2 for the newer cars. At £26K you will probably struggle to find anything with less than 80K miles.

And yes the short runs aren't great - but heh that's what's car are for and you'll just have to take it out for long drives at the weekend.

Its a hard life... :D
