I am in the process of researching a 1988 model year 3.2 Carrera coupe I found in Spain and am considering buying.
Even though, the car is in pretty good condition and has a fairly complete service and ownership history, there are a few areas in this Documentation that raise questionmarks.
1. There is no data sticker on page 3 of the service book even though all ID numbers check out.
2. A German dealership that sold it used in the past - stamped sale Document - and is shown as having serviced it for 3 or 4 years - with their stamp in the service booklet - cannot find the VIN or any record of the car in their computer database.
As I said, the car checks out beautifully mechanically and cosmetically and with 204000 kms on the clock is not trying to hide its age.
The owner has been very co-operative in providing information and answering all my questions up to now and appears genuinely surprised of thes
e background inconsistencies.
Any thoughts?
