Hi Folks,

I have a Blaupunkt Toronto Radio/Tape in my 964. I also have the amp under the driver's seat. Does anyone know if i can add another audio source to the head unit or the amp? Would like to play itunes via bluetooth but i dont want to change my head unit as it looks so good :)

tia

The only wiring digram I have found says that inputs C1 & C3
are not connected so I don't think you can add another source
but I am not absolutley sure.

I was told by Blaupunkt that this was not possible on the Symphony but I cannot find a wiring diagram like the one above to be sure.

So I bought a Cassette - 3.5mm adapter jobbie for now

Mmm thx guys. Am leaning towards a cassette adapter but i don't much like having leads trailing. :-/ looked for a Bluetooth cassette adapter - like the cable one but with Bluetooth instead of a cable. but it still needs a cable to charge it :)

You could get an fm transmitter type ie you tune the head unit into the fm frequency transmitted by the unit. You could wire the unit hidden and connect it to an old iPod in the glovebox or I think you can get Bluetooth ones now to connect to an iPhone etc....

Tx Jon, I had an fm transmitter back in the day and it was ordinary at best. Am coming round to the idea of using the cassette and wire solution... but at £10 for a very well reviewed Sony version i may just have to deliberate a bit longer :)

My Sony version arrived this afternoon!

And... Does it sound good? Can you configure it so the wire comes out of the long edge rather than the short edge as shown in all the pics I have seen?

Cable from the short trailing edge so it cannot get clogged up in the tape machine. When not in sue cable fits nicely inside the ashtray

Sounds alright - although there is some tape motor noise. Not hissy like a proper old skool cassette though. Not seamless like the Meridien system I have in my RR but....

Tape machine needs to be on track ONE and I had trouble getting mine to bed in the player... a little extra shove with my little finger once the thing thought it was in did the trick

Ah OK thx. In my car the tape is to be pushed in feet first. I.e. long side tape edge first. My tape deck will not take it sideways... Can the Sony be reconfigured to poke the cable out of the long edge opposite the tape edge? Many others can... Tia

I dont get it with all this iPod stuff :? The tyre noise and glorious engine sound are enough to mask out the 'quality' music unless you are into MC Hammer gangsta rap etc :dont know:

Wouldn't change my CDR-21 under any circs. What's wrong with just the wireless

Sometimes I drive my car in the afternoon
Don't do Radio 4 in the afternoons - I lose interest at The Archers
BBC Radio London is fine til 3 when Robert Elms goes home
Can't get 6 music
Too old for Capital
Too young for Heart

and come the day, Steve Wright goes in Room 101:gunfire: :gunfire:

So, you see, an alternative, even if it's a podcast of the Friday night Radio 4 comedy is useful!

I am growing to love you Zing... the sony thing is a cassette with a jack lead and it is made by sony. :)

Now, as for knob fiddling, we do not know if steve has or has not been knobbling any fiddles. What we do know, and all we do know, is that he has not been accused publicly of said behaviour.

Now wait for the mods to edit this one :)
