C4s 993 wheels & 993 turbo wheels

When fitting new tyres recently I discovered one of my 993 C4S rear wheels has quite a buckle in it. Tyre shop balanced it out as best as possible, but wheels would benefit from a refurb anyway which I might get done at Lepson, Kent in the summer.

My question for you all is it wise to mix C4S wheels with genuine turbo wheels? as I have been offered a turbo rear wheel which looks the same as the C4S but has hollow centres and is therefore a lighter wheel. Alternatively has anyone had any sucess truing-up wheels at all? (basically bashing them back into shape sucessfully before refurbing them - again is this not recommended practice also?)

Finally anyone know where I can source a genuine used C4S rear wheel that I can get refurbed with my others 3 in the summer - I've tried 911designUK and they don't have any single ones.

thanks in advance

I'm no expert but I'd say different weighted wheels on the same axle is a no no.

I might try truing up a wheel on an old banger, but not a Porsche - consider how everything is designed for high performance - a buckled wheel that has been bashed back into shape wouldn't give me alot of confidence long term, especially on the rear of a 911!

Sourcing a single wheel - try eBay, Douglas Valley breakers, and all the usual sources in the Porsche press. Someone is bound to have one sooner or later. Or buy new??

Good luck

I later found out from the part nos. on my wheels that a previous owner had replaced the standard 'turbolook' wheels on my C4S with a set of 'hollow-spoke' OEM turbo wheels. Therefore it is a single 993.362.140.00 turbo rear wheel I'm looking to replace, or a full/matching set of either 'hollowspoke' or 'turbolook' wheels

I posted in your other thread regarding Jasmine who I know have them. I am sure they would do singles or sets as you required.

You can still buy them new BTW direct from Porsche - about a grand a wheel I believe :-o

I got mine from Brian @ Jasmine (very good price and quality) and I know that they do have & sell singles available if required.

Ref your original post I would be very concerned at mixing wheels and trying to rectify a buckled one, never mind a high value car, its taking your life in your own hands if a wheel failed at high speed.
