yet another post about battery chargers!

Anyway, i have an accumate battery charger/maintainer connected to my 1997 Carrera 4. Its been on charge for 3 1/2 days and the charger still says its 'empty' even though the maximum charge time should be 3 days from totally discharged. The strange thing is that the side repeater lights are constantly giving a little 'flicker' all the time the charger is connected. The front and rear indicators are not flashing though!

in the words of Marvin Gaye;

Whats going on?

richard.

Richard, have you use this charger on the car successfully before?

Are you connecting to the cig lighter or direct to battery?

If the lighter, maybe the lighter is not "live" after the ignition is turned off?

Don't sound right to me.

I use the croc clips to connect to the battery, and run the connector wire out into the luggage compartment so I can just plug the charger in when required.... like Asim says, the ciggy lighter needs to be rewired to be 'live' all the time despite what it says in the manual.

Cig lighters are not born "live" all the time. Need to be rewired. 15mins labour, OPC charge you 1hr.

i've got one of those little connectors that sits in the boot/bonnet (delete as applicable) with the wires leading down to the battery. this is the first time i've used the conditioner.

i don't think the electronics or immobiliser are allowing the battery to be maintained. It seems to be something the car is aware of as the repeaters 'flicker'. I've put a 'normal' charger on it this morning, i'll let you know if it prefers that.

You haven't got a wire shorting out have you (on the way to the battery from the connector/charger)?

Or a bad earth connection?
