Having some front bushes replaced. Is there any benefit in putting in Elephant Racing ones or are Powerflex the order of the day?

I would go with the Elephant Racing ones. More compliant, less harsh and can be bought in two different hardness levels - standard and sport.

Super Pro bushes also get a good write up and Chris Franklin at CG is a big fan. No experience of Elephant Racing ones but AFAIK are well respected too, as GR says.

D'oh, just committed to Powerflex as didn't see this until after speaking to mechanic.

Hi

I have the elephant racing sport hardness (rs spec) on the front (and rear also) on my car and they are a quality product. The fronts are identical in construction to the standard bushes with the same cutouts that allow correct geometry changes under braking.

Out of interest what's wrong with the standard OEM bushes :dont know:

D'oh. :coat:

Hi

I got them sent from the USA direct from Eracing. There is nothing wrong with the standard porsche ones as such. I do not think they are available as a separate bush though. I personally wanted to sharpen things up a bit so went for the rs spec ones.

Berni, that looks like an expensive lens you took that picture with. What is it if you don't mind me asking?

I think the issue is that you can't just buy replacement OEM bushes - you have to purchase the complete arm - which is not particularly cheap.

Therefore the option of buying aftermarket bushes is a sensible option for many people from a financial point of view - plus the polyurethane style bushes have better longevity than the original OEM spec....some people also are looking for different stiffness characteristics from their bush...fnar fnar

I'd probably go for an exchange set from Hartech when the time comes but presume they use standard bushes which they must get from somewhere :dont know:

Hi

Actually the jury is very much out on the longevity issue with the polybushes. I actually like polybushes and did my mk2 Golf GTI and Alfa GTV with them. However they are basically a plain bearing and if they run dry or you get grit in there then you can be pretty sure they will not outlast or outperform the standard items. One of the main reasons that the poly type are so popular is that they are very easy to fit.
