brake pressure warning light

Occasionally the brake pressure warning light does not switch off after firing up the engine - switching engine off and on again fixes it. At other times it switches off after what seems a long wait (long enough to lose patience and start driving anyway - the manual states that you should not drive with this light lit).

There does not seem to be any problem with the brakes - even after half an hour driving with the light on.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this ?

(It is on a '95 993 C4 convertible).

There are at least 2 brake warning lights on a 993 - one is for the wear sensors telling you to replace the pads; the other is the brake fluid level warning. I had an intermittent brake fluid warning and it was simply that the level was a little low; so braking/cornering would throw the sensor. If the pads are not nearing replacement, it could be the pad wear sensors are faulty - these are separate from the pads and, if it's not just a loose connection etc., can be replaced relatively cheaply.

Brake pressure...

It seems from your description we are talking brake pressure, (not fluid or pads)which also linked to 4 wheel drive system. As nothing has stopped working its unlikely you have too serious a problem. And there is nothing you can do yourself either. You must take it to a Porsche dealer (OPC) or a Specialist (only if they have the correct Bosch computer for 993 C4) who can plug it into there computer to find out whats happening. Its the quickest and most economic way. Safest too. Dont dilly dally with your stoppers.
