Not sure if i see the point or not. Was thinking a boxster coupe would be smaller and cheaper than a 911. But looking up dimensions a boxster seems to be the same size as a 997 and now according to autocar it isnt really going to be any cheaper either.

I agree - really liked the Boxster Coupe at £30k it is a great alternative to a second-user 993. But at 50k it is not a great alternative to a second-hand GT3.

Looks like the brief has moved further away from the Boxster Coupe- it looks like this will 'out-911' the 997 as a pure drivers car. With the 997 moving the 911 further and further toward a luxury sports biased GT, and while the 997 will no doubt spawn a GT3 derivative, there is definitely room in the Porsche range for a more focused coupe even at £50k.

As you say, this car's real rival is a used GT3.
