Im needing to sell my '99 996 C4 due to an upcoming move to the US. Now I have spoken to some dealers and they are offering anything from £24-27K. I appreciate that dealers need to make a profit on the car and it seems most have at least £4 grand min if you dont p/x. So Im left with first off trying to sell privately and was wondering whats the best method - Autotrader seems a good start, did think about using specialist sites like this, but a Porsche independant garage recomended trying e-bay !?? anyone got any ideas? Will people buy a c.£30k car privately even though it will have a warranty ?

I sold my Honda on Autotrader but decided to sell my 911 here - most knowledgeable buyers surf these specialist sites and I didn't want to educate any complete idiots and also didn't allow anyone to drive it until they had showed a lot of interest - both difficult to achieve on autotrader IMHO.

I am looking at a 993 Targa I saw for sale on
www.pistonheads.com
so might be worth considering an ad there. Alternatively, consider sellng the car via sale or return at a specialist dealer- you'll get a similar price to a private sale, with no hassle.

You'll have no trouble selling privately, just watch out for scamsters and test-pilots!

I would say advertise here / Porsche 911 World / Pistonheads / PCGB magazine although you could also try the Sunday Times and I infact found found my car online in autotrader - as I knew what I was looking for the add and the way it was written stood out. I could tell an enthusiast ws selling it...... so it was a starter.
