Best Porsche vehicle investment between 60 and 120k

IMO it's too late for investments - better to buy a £40k Porsche and £80k investment fund. However, I feel a 996/997 GT3 is a good place to put money if you need somewhere fun to put it!

Yep, would be a cheap total cost of ownership but not an investment

My experience over the last twenty years has mostly been the same regardless of macroeconomics.

If you drop on the very odd one that goes loopy then you’ll make a good return but you need to keep them for years for this to happen. When you factor in maintenance, storage and the cost of ownership it looks less attractive.

In the short term some people claim some cars hold their value but generally they don’t and you find that out only when you try to sell them.

The exception was during the COVID anomaly when things went crazy and if you had assets to sell that were in short supply then you could make money even in the short term.

If I were buying now then possibly a 997.1 GT3RS but I do wonder. I said I was buying the next green one that came up for sale, but then when the green one came up at JZM recently at £170k I thought it was overpriced and dismissed it, but it sold within a week.

In the 3-5yr range I don’t see that going up because the economy is in for a roasting, but in ten years who knows.

The current market makes it a good time to buy but will probably only be a good investment if you can get a car privately at the right price.

If you buy from a dealer it will take a while to recover the extra 10-15% cost incurred by doing so.

I don’t think any car at those sort of prices is an investment - they need to be bought to be driven and enjoyed. If your lucky you may make a few bob when you sell - if your unlucky you may pop your cloggs when your sitting on a goldmine.

991.1 GT3 - still no real trust due to engine issues

997.2 GTS - market has dropped 10k in the last month - 2 Manual cars up for sale at dealers for under 60k

Gt4RS / SpyderRS back down to list so trade in will be less.

The people who have made money are those that bought Aircooled cars 10 years ago and those special people who flipped GT cars over the last 5 years.

I can't argue with this, I accidentally made money on a bog standard Carrera selling it during covid, but I've never bought a 911 to make money, I bought them to rev out and enjoy.

However, I bought my 930 because of fear of them going up even more if I didn't bite the bullet now and it's hard not to sit and wonder (hope) if I'm sitting on a super future investment. I actually dislike this because it detracts from me using it and I need to get it out of my head, otherwise it's going to live in a carcoon and I'll be too scared to get it out and drive it sportily.

It's a crying shame to own one of the best sports cars in the world and only pootle around in it to shows and back.

991.1 GT3 with G6 Engine

Please form an orderly queue here :D

In seriousness any of the really old stuff (like the one in the closing scene of TOP GUN Maverick)

What car is in the closing scene?

I have watched it but I was too busy cringing to really pay attention and I don't want to google the ending in case an algorithm somewhere assumes I'm gay and starts feeding me never ending clips of Grease and Friends.

Or directs you to sites selling sandals and socks with links to 993s for sale

Stop worrying about cars as investments even the old air cooled cost you dough to maintain and then you 'protect' what you have you don't use it and treat it as a ornament. It can be fun on those dark winter nights when you nip out into the garage after Emmerdale with your flask of cocoa, unzip the carcoon, take out the spacesaver spare wheel from your 993 and inflate it, marvelling how it grows in size and then shrinks back when you expend the air.
