....out with a few freinds last night & debate got round to "got 25k to spend on a fun car what should I get?". 911's were high on the list of options. He ended the evening with 3 main options:

1) Merc CL500
2) Jag XKR
3) 911

....now given that we have a little bias on this site, what do we think he could reasonably get for around 25k...what would you recommend?

is this as well as our existing motors or to replace?

Rodders,

this is for my next door neighbour who would be replacing a Volvo :(
,

he's very much into bikes, fast bikes,

PS: if you didn't see previous post had pimpmobile chipped during the week, big difference for very reasonable price & they cover Aberdeen.

£25k IMO would deffo be a safer bet in a 911 be it 993/996 flavoured.............the Merc's depreaciate like a stone and with this new "gorgeous" Jag coupe out so to will the XKR..........and of course both will be autos as standard(or were they available as manuals?).........dont get me wrong i like the Merc CL's but i think you'd get bored of wafting about in it when you could be having fun in the twisties 911 style

Get a very tidy E46 M3 for that as well.....

Yep £25K on the nose. Had a clutch and £1200 service a month before I bought her but I had to put new front discs and pads on and 2 rear tyres. Just had an OPC 111 point check and passed on everything except a minor cam seal oil leak thats being done on Thursday for £400 all in. Then she has a warranty on her and its flat out with no worries from then on!!! Oh and it included the plate.

Wel done Philip, looks a great buy, and including the plate, well done.

How many miles she done.

That is nice....I'll have to get him to take a look at this....if he does he will be convinced...become a 911 convert. Actually have another neighbour about 100 yds up the road with a gorgeous 993 C4 in the same colour which was really doing the convincing for him!!

65700 the day I got it...not small miles but not massive either. I only do 5/6000 a year so its not going to up very much with me.

blimey you did well with that one for £25k, was it a private or trade? if it was trade, was it a specialist (ie. have they got any more? thats exacty what I'm looking for)

if you can private message me on this forum then let me know the details.

thanks

It was a private sale from a guy in Birmingham. Like I say it was never washed so needed some TLC on the outside bit the inside was great and he has a reciept for every single penny ever spent. he looked after the mechanicals at the OPC but didnt have time to clean it. Its better now though.
