Hello folks,

What do you think is the latest on which battery we should use in our cars?

I've seen loads of threads but generally dating back some years..

So far I've looked at:

Varta Blue 019 Car Battery - 4 Year Guarantee, 800cca - £150
Bosch S5 Car Battery 019 5 Year Guarantee, 830CCA - £300

Currently got a Exide at 680cca (3yr old) and struggling with hot starts again. I've refurbed the starter, changed the cable and threaded the bolt on the bulkhead for a better fixing (which made the most difference) but after 12 months it seems the fault is back.

Thanks
Phil

Think I'm gonna go for one of these having read many more posts..

Varta SILVER Dynamic 600 402 083 3162 H3 12Volt 100Ah 830 A/EN car battery - £95

Hi,

I bought:

S5 010 Bosch Car Battery 12V 85Ah Type 110 S5010

From Tanya Batteries for £105 1 year ago.

I bought the Bosch S4 - from ECP for £137 with a 4 year guarantee - it's way better than the duracell that was in there!

Warranty?

If your car has a warranty that could affect your choice.

I put a BOSCH on mine the same as others have done. Been on four years + and no signs of being sluggish or not holding charge.

Every time it goes to PORSCHE they want to change it for the 'PORSCHE' one!

If car is not under warranty some batteries have 3 years or even more warranty now.

Regards
Glen

I bought a Bosch S4 from ECP in late 2018 and used for fewer than 2,000 miles in the three years since.

No longer appears to hold a charge for any length of time, even though it's been on an Optimate conditioner.

Currently waiting for them to deliver another one under warranty.

Been looking at the starter packs but they seem to get a mixed reception.

Anyone had experience - good or bad - or can make a recommendation?

Thanks.

I replaced mine with a genuine Porsche branded Moll battery from OPC Tonbridge as I am a sucker for genuine parts. It cost £220.00 and I can report absolutely no issues whatsoever. The car is kept on a trickle charger though. I don't think the Moll units are as bad as everyone makes out.

new battery

I brought one of these
JWM LifeP04 Lithium battery PS-20
£230

Weights just 2.1kilos and tiny. Not had the slightest issue with it at all

Worth thinking about perhaps
