Probably mis described solid spokes from a 4S but no pics of the rears so could be a steeeeeeeeeeeeal if genuine hollow spokes from a 993 Turbo.............

eBay ad

Looks like rubber valves so I say they're solid.

They should have metal valves Mohitos, no doubt Chris W will sort you some out if you ask him.

Dodgy valves and no glovebox lightbulb, sounds like you've bought a right duffer there

Seriously, looking forward to some feedback on how you're enjoying the car, saw a picture of it on the Goodwood thread, looking good amongst all those wide arses. Would be interested on your thoughts of the RS Clutch and LWF setup assuming you've driven some standard ones to compare against. :thumb:

Chris W refurbished the wheels !

A right duffer indeed ;)

I've actually been pretty busy with the car. I've a few more bits to do and then I promise a proper write up. In general though, I'm lovin' it !

:?: Not sure then, he supplied mine fully refurbed with metal valves.

Looking forward to the write up, will be interesting to see what you've been upto :thumb:

Good spot........ but If Mohitos does have hollows with rubber valves maybe that is not a definitive identifier :?:

Mohitos, the hollow spokes have a none standard valve fitment due to their design ie they need a much thinner / longer valve than a generic one. They are c£11 each from an OPC.

So far as I know these are only available as a metal valve hence why Dom spotted the rubber valves as an indicator of solid spoke wheels (which can use standard rubber valves).

You can get an idea of what we mean from my journal entry about TPMS valves adaptation which has pics of them and part numbers HERE

Your comment raises two obvious questions....

1) Do you have hollow spokes ?

2) If you do then are cheaper rubber valves available which fit hollow spokes ????

see the simplist of comments can open a can of worms :hand:

These wheels look like Mille Miglia replica 993 wheels. You can almost make out their logo cast into the rim.

Yes I do Jonttt. They are smooth on the backs and on the factory build sheet. I'll check my valves when I get a chance !

for anyone not sure...

Stuart you're worrying yourself unnecessarily of course you have metal valves, its physically impossible to have hollows without! You probably have black plastic caps :)

As Dom says they are reps, you can tell just from the narrowness of the spokes as they meet the centre, and the rounded rim profile (genuine are very flat curve).

Our ebay seller is lying to say they are genuine. ET47 rear is always a giveaway for reps, it should be ET40.

Anyone needing WB hollows just drop me a line.

Some more on the bay too..........

Sorry cant remember the way to shorten the link.

To my knowledge the fronts should be 8J for a 993 fitment, so the 7.5J may be for a boxster or something?

Edit: relates to NB fitment.

Yep they are NB fitment.

Its the rarer WB hollows that caught my eye with the first ad. The fact they normally get advertised for £2k+ meant that I thought they may be a genuine bargain for someone if the seller did not know their real worth.

However it just shows buyer beware as the seller not knowing what he is selling works both ways

Mohitos, I think you need a Mojito :D

The 996.1 and Boxster 986 shared a 7.5J front 18" wheel. They reverted to an 8J 18" front for the 996.2.

They started manufacturing 7.5J hollowspokes sometime in the late 1990s, so there may (or may not) have been 993s with either fitted.

FYI I have tried 18" 7.5J and 8J on the front of the 993, and the look and feel are indistinguishable (both wearing 225/40 tyres)
