Bangers & cash 3.2 vid

I can only think the fact that it is a ‘Celebration Model’ has added an extra 25k to the price ?

Nice ones do fetch a bit more but that’s a crazy buy at that price !

I’m not surprised. The days of driving away in a decent 3.2 for twenty five grand are way behind us.

At least this car has the faults in your face rather than something that has been tarted up and put up at £50k with most of those issues still lurking but covered over.

That’s why a lot of dealers won’t sell them, because people won’t pay what it costs to do them properly to a point where any reputable dealer can warranty them.

Good job it wasn’t a 993, it would still cost the same to fix but the purchase price would be 25% more.

A late 80s 3.2 is a £75k car if you want one that’s done properly and will only need normal standard maintenance for the next decade or so. A 930 is a £150k car if you want the same.

If you want a nut & bolt restored car then add significantly more. I got a back of a fag packet quote for a full restoration on my 930 by one of the well known USA companies when I was over there and they said minimum $500k.

I had a quick look on PH classified and it looks like a decent late 80's 3.2 is going to set you back about £60k and I'll be a monkeys uncle if it doesn't swallow up £15k if you want it to be bob-on.

Before i got into Subaru Imprezas in the late 90's i was offered a 3.2 Carrera Sport G50 for £12k and was tempted as it was beautiful but as i had 2 toddlers at the time and it was a DD i obviously declined......wish i'd have bought the 911 back then now, but i've never bought a car with the resale value in mind but luckily have always bought car's that i've been able to sell on without losing much money... even make a few quid on a few.

I think I've told this tale already, but I remember having the opportunity to buy a really low mileage lovely 930 for £25k and being put off by friends.
Same with a Ferrari 355.

After a while I stopped listening to them, but by then the train had left the station.
I wouldn't have bought my 930 if I'd listened to any of them and it's cost me a shed load so far, but I thought if I don't buy one now they'll be quarter of a million soon. Although now it'll probably be just my luck that they'' be worth £25k again in ten years :D

I don't know where all these cheap air-cooled Porsches are but a lot of people seem surprised when I talk numbers.
I remember when £15k would buy you a lot of car, but I can't see any really well sorted late 80's 3.2 Carrera for <£50k.

I wasn't going to take DK out today, but sod it. I'm going for a pap lap and a coffee
