I have a gen2 , 997 c2s , is there a way to open and close the windows from outside the car.?
With this hot weater it would be nice to open the windows 15 mins before I get in the car.

If it is enabled in the DME, just press and hold the key fob remote button when you unlock to open windows (needs to stay depressed for more than 2 seconds, and will stop immediately when you release, for obvious safety reasons)

Closing is the same but when you press and hold the key fob remote button when you lock.

Closing operation closes sunroof too.

Is that just for Gen 2's please?

Ooh, I must have a try...

Do I need to take it to a garage or can it be done through the dashboard?

AFAIK it is in the safety and security settings, so it requires PIWIS or Durametric

I asked the question about auto closing a while back on my Gen1 997, when I took it for a free check at OPC for 50th year of 911 I mentioned it and they did it on diagnostics terminal FOC but I did buy car off them.
As far as I know it only shuts windows when they're open and you hold lock button, it does not do sunroof that stays open, haven't tried holding on opening but don't think it will.
My '98 BMW opens all windows and sunroof if I hold the fob, and of course closes all on locking, I can also programme blower to start before return time to clear stale air out. But it doesn't go as well and it'll be raining again soon

Hmm, another reason to buy a Durametrics unit...damn! :frustrated:

Shuts windows and sunroof, only opens windows (although the settings may be split on the 997 DME options - ie BOTH may need to be enabled, 996 is just one check box)

It's not the hardware, it's the software.

If you have the software version that allows it (see Durametric website for revisions as they play catch-up to PIWIS options on your vehicle/model)

I don't know about 997s, but v5.0 onwards defo allows 996 settings.

It is the hardware that governs whether you can do it. Only the Pro version will allow coding.
