Hi gentlemen!

Is there anybody going to Zell am See 22-23-24 May for the meeting I recommended a few month ago?

I will with my 993 4S together with a friend of mine and his 993 2S. Would be happy to join up for a formation "flight" on almost 700km on german highways!

Leaving Luxemburg on the 22nd of may...

Hi Graham!

Well it was a good trip! We started under a pouring rain which stopped only after Stuttgart. The Ausrian police was waiting for us in the middle of a wooden straight line... and I still don't know which Saint tickled my mind to reduce from 150km/h to 90 before I saw them in green uniform, in the bushes with a laser tripod!!!! The Austrian Club organisation was the first in that kind of event, but already attracted around 115 cars from nicely restored 356s to brand new Cayenne. The first day, a slalom was organized after the Welcome drink and speaches. The second day, we made a tour to the GrossGlöckner pass (wonderfull) and to Gmünd where Porsche was during the end of the war. Knowing a little about the place thanks to 911 & Porsche world magazine(issues july august 2002), I found a very kind person who drove me through the town to show me Ferdinand's fromer house, his office in a sawmill ( which is now the headquarters of the 356 club of Austria and strictly restricted for visits!), and also different houses where the workers and Ferdinand's driver was living. The group visited the Museum.

The last day we visited Porsche Design Offices welcomed by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche. Those offices are designing from knifes to underground trains and other different objects. Then we went to the Porsche's family house, and we were authorised to take a look in the Chapel were Ferdinand, Ferry, and Louise are burried.

A dry german autobahn was waiting for us on the way back to clean our upper cylinder heads...

So an interesting week-end if you are a little bit interrested by the Porsche history. We had a room in the Porsche hof Hotel. Excellent.Porsche CLassic Club Austria intends to organize a second edition in 2005.

The negative points? Well not too many: something should have be organized for our wifes during the times we were busy with the slaloms; and except my friend , 2 Dutch, and me, there was no other non german speaking...which must explain their non willingness to translate any speaches. (my secret weapon? My wife is german speaking!)

By the way between a 2s and a 4s under a pouring rain there is absolutly no discussion about who's feeling the more relax!

Cheers JP

PS for my next trip, I'd like to go to the Goodwood revival or festival of speed. Any advise about that?
