I know this sounds a little daft from a man is his mid thirties, and I suppose I know the pit falls and potential disasters behind buying by auction (over the net) but when you see a Porsche with full service history low mileage etc etc.. is it really such a big risk , if and that's the big IF, it's at a good price ????

If you have a "cooling off" period with the car in which you can get it checked and if you find it has problems you can still return it an auction should be fine. But low milage and a FSH doesn't mean the previous owner didn't miss a gear and has buggered the engine, or that it has had an accident and had the repair covered up etc etc. I am not sure how cheap it would need to be to offset/pay for these risks. "I guess you just have to ask yourself, do you feel lucky.... well do you?"

It's not really worth the risk when all 911's are falling in value(even 993s and 959s) so whatever your budget you can get a decent 911(probably). Or were you talking about boxsters?
