Anyone using CUP2s in winter?

As per title. I've heard that the CUP2 tyres can be dicey in the wet, is anyone using theirs through winter?

I’ve just taken the set of Cup 2s off my Evora and put Michelin Pilot Alpin 5s on instead - car feels SO much better. Depends how much you want to use the car, and whether you can be picky about when you take it out?

Yes CUP2 here,
Just need to be sensible - careful coming out of corners/roundabouts until the car is pointing in a straight line
Careful in heavy rain and standing water (911s and Caymans will aquaplane much easier than "normal" cars in standing water even with less agressive rubber)
I wont compromise on steering feel (famous last words)

You should be fine so long as you drive according to conditions and don’t drive like it’s summer, as they’ll be difficult to get up to operating temperatures in cold weather. I wouldn’t go out for a hoon in winter unless it was a dry sunny day, and at least 10-15C+. Pottering about should be fine. For 'proper' driving in winter though, get a set of squidgy winter tyres, who knows you might decide you prefer the improved ride comfort and never want to take them off lol

I wouldn't dream of it - and I wouldn't be allowed anyway. They start to suck goatballs below 7c, and even MPS 4S are sketchy.

Avoid

Generally not, just don't have much grip in cold weather and would be worried if i needed to do an emergency stop

it comes down to getting to and maintaining it's operating temperature, cold and wet not being that option
the tread blocks will still clear water but will struggle as the temp drops below 7c

This ☝️

I have MPS 4S on my 996 Turbo and they can feel sketchy AF when it gets proper cold and wet....

Totally agree with the switch to Alpin 5s - on the GTS they are a revelation, and am sure the same is true on the Evora. (y)
Stunning grip in the cold, snow, wet and slime that we have on our roads at this time of year.
