I owned a 1988 (non ABS) 328 GTS for four years.
What a car! I loved it- I sold it to buy a F355 which never really hit the spot in the same way despite its monstrous performance.
I had a sports exhaust on mine- I can only imagine that the above cars were running OE exhausts as the sound was a symphony- only Ferraris really howl like that. And there was a great crackle and pop on the over-run, all overlaid with the whistle of all the gears and cams etc.
The gearbox was quite challenging, especially when cold. But when warmed up, it was very tactile and quick to shift.
Overall, it was a car you had to learn rather than leap into and scoot off. Handling was great, but quite hostile around the limit. A very involving car to drive.
The shape is just stunning. The GTB is arguably prettier.
The running costs were not outrageous. The 24 month belts service was around £1200 at a specialist, and typically it cost well under £1k per year. Mine never skipped a beat in my four year stewardship, and it had done over 50k miles when I sold it.
Parts costs on the other hand border on the comic. You don't know whether to laugh out loud or cry so you do both.
Overall, I'd say definitely give one a go- now is a great time to buy.
