Another Insurance Question

I own an English reg 993 convertible which I can get insured for around £650 fully comp. my problem is I spend a lot of time abroad and need 12 months green card included as well. One company will do it for around £1300, everyone else I have tried will do it for a max of 3 months or a little longer but I have to come back to the uk and out again. Does anyone know of a company that can offer me this facility but at sensible money?

How do the Insurance company know how long you have been aboard at any one time???

I presume when you go abroad they have to be notified as to destinations and duration and perhaps show proof (ferry tickets etc) as to when you have left.
