Aftermarket A/C system identification

I’ve been trying to identify my 993 aftermarket a/c system that is fitted to my car.
Does anyone have something similar fitted?
It was flagged as non-functioning in the Independent Inspection I had before I purchased the vehicle.
It was re gassed, but quickly packed up again.

It seems to use some original Porsche parts, but the pipework, compressor (Sanden), and expansion valve appear different.
There is a non a/c CCU fitted, and the a/c is turned on/off via a push button on the transmission tunnel.
I thought it may be from Clayton Classics, but they said they would need to see the car.

Original compressor should be Denso which is more petite than what you've got. Your's looks like a unit from a 930 Series car.

It's a retro fit that's no mistake, and whilst the pipes look to be original they're routed the wrong way. If they have retrofitted an evaporator into the heater matrix behind the firewall and condenor unit/fan in the FNS wing then it was no small job. Equally if the leak is in the evaporator you're looking at a 10hr labour job to get at what is a c£150 part.

If you want AC then replacing the compressor to OEM along with associated pipework is possible but without the correct HVAC dash unit it will still be a retro fit, in which case I suspect the electric option from Classic Retrofit might work out cheaper and more efficient.
 
The Climate Control Unit can be modified/reworked to the A/C type. However, this is not cheap. It can be easier to get hold of an used A/C unit instead.

It is a dilemma, I'm not sure the best way to proceed without identifying it.
I'm thinking of doing a leek test to find where the problem lies.
Replacing with Porsche/OEM system is eye wateringly expensive, and I don't know if my wiring loom supports an a\c CCU, so it would still be operated via an on/off button.
The existing system has custom pipework in the engine and HVAC suitcase, I haven't looked behind the wheel arch liners yet. If the pipework is leaking rather than O rings, then sourcing replacements might be a challenge.
Classic Retrofit electric may be the way ahead seeing as whatever I put in will be aftermarket, does anyone have this system installed?

I saw it installed on a SC at their stand at Boxengasse where you can have heat and AC dual function. Also on their stand were working display units. I'd still bank on £5k supply and fitted.

Get a leak test done with the dye. if you're sure all the electrical compnenets are working OK. A quick and dirty test is getting it gassed at Kwik-Fit. If they confirm a leak there's no charge, equally if it loses its gas after refill with x number of days you get a refund. You can then investigate further with a more specialised AC outfit to trace down the leak/issue.

The first thing to do is stick a camera into the a/c suitcase and look for any green dye, if you find some then the evaporator has worn through on one of the bottom coils (common fault) Remove the suitcase, replace the evaporator, tx valve, dryer in LHS front guard, have the system vacuumed, recharged and see how you go, yes it is time consuming but satisfying job. To me the CCU looks standard and i would address it later if the system doesn’t work correctly..Specalised ECU Repair in Florida make new modern design CCU boards.

Thank you, good suggestion, one step at a time rather than a fully formed plan.
My frunk has petrol fumes, so the tank removal for investigation of the source is on my to-do list anyway, I may as well start with the least accessible part of the a\c system.
 
Glad I can help.. If you have a fuel smell than replace the fuel filler and breather rubber hoses and the tiny hose between the main tank and the expansion tank. These rubber hoses are now 30yrs old and are starting to leach fuel vapors, replacing the hoses on both of my 993 rectified the problem. You might need to shampoo the the frunk carpet as it is probably also contaminated. Here is a photo of my upgraded frunk
