Advice for a 996 noob?

I take it you've seen this local guards red 996. Heated seats and cruise control, which is a bonus. Mileage is in your ball park and it's priced right. Condition doesn't look too bad either:

I entered the correct number plate for it from one of the pics with the service history (one mounted to the car is for a Land Rover) which reveals body/chassis corrosion, so wouldn't be a car for me. Does look good in red though!

"Integral body structure or chassis corroded within 30cm of a mounting, but not seriously affecting overall security" is quite common on these and most the time is an over enthusiastic MOT station. You'll not find many with zero rust on jacking points and cross members, etc.

Same place that MOT'd it also failed it for this:

"Front Brake disc in such a condition that it is seriously weakened both on inner edges"
That should be an advisory 100%

Car's never failed an MOT since 2006. Guaranteed it's the MOT station at fault there.

Just noticed it has mesh grills in the front (good sign it's been looked after) and the header tank has been done.....also good sign.

here's what you don't want to see when you open the rear:

In terms of a car visually making me feel very 'Wanty McWantface', this is right up there....

Not cheap and would need really dig deep into the service history regarding spend, but that gets me hot under the collar.

Yup, that's the one though its seal grey. Its in for the KWs right now, I should have it back next week, just in time for a day out at Goodwood with PCGB and then some spring driving.
Ah, maybe a different one then! I bid on this in Feb but didn’t ultimately win the auction .

Another "ims replaced by porsche" - complete lie.
Thanks, I really appreciate your knowledgeable insight!

Wonder how much of this was factory fitted? I've asked to see the options sticker.

The red "Wanty" car you mentioned earlier the Aero kit isn't factory looking at the bonnet sticker.. but it could have been fitted by the suppling dealer from new possibly..

Noted, I thought that too having looked up the codes, however my searching brought me back to this very forum, as the previous owner to the current seller and the owner prior to that were both on the forum and have confirmed the kit is genuine factory fit as a batch of launch cars.

Both vouched for the car being a good'un, although no guarantee as to what has happened to it over the last 6 years with the current owner. I;ve messaged him through the ad but not had a response yet.

Not sure if the price is too much though?

Hi all, just updating this as everyone has been so helpful. I'm hoping to view a couple of cars at the weekend.

On a separate note, are Cameron Sports Cars a reputable specialists if they had the right car?
