I am ever harping on about the amount of driver involvement experienced and required while driving on interesting public roads in perhaps a no later than an 80`s 911, one with torsion bar suspension, no ABS or power steering, thus perhaps more dependency on the seat of the pants abilities of the driver, with potential to return more in the way of returns having covered a few interesting miles without ending up in a hedge...(-:
For sure, I am biased, having perhaps enjoyed ownership of 60`s 912, 70`s and to 80`s 911`s, and have the good fortune to have owned a rather nice 991.1 C4S for just over a couple of years now, though to date my favourite Porsche has been my 82 SC. The C4S is a wonderfully capable bit of kit and to my eyes right up there in terms of one of the best examples of an automotive art form today... Air cooled bias..? Yeah well perhaps I was more in my Porsche related prime when enjoying my SC... (-:
As ever watching way too many vids on the www I came across this one which I thought worth posting as it provided an insight to a much younger Porsche related mindset, which I found interesting and thought you might too..?
The vid is of a young man who grew up influenced by Porsche as so many do, though this young man`s passion led to creating a desire to race a Porsche... enough to say he seems to have managed that rather well, having achieved experience racing Caterhams, thus no doubt learned of all the advantages that a really well sorted Lotus Seven derivative could offer in his bid to achieve a licence to race, and having achieved that, he worked towards getting a seat in a race prepared Porsche and competing on track at Paul Ricard...
It would seem from the lifestyle portrayed in the vid, this young chap might be capable of choosing from a variety of Porsches for his personal transport, thus it was interesting to see the Porsche he seemingly chose to drive on the road....Perhaps suggesting that even youngsters may find some degree of value in older Porsche engineering when choosing a machine to enjoy on the public roads...?
