When is the 997 released in the UK and what do you think its arrival will do to 996 residuals?

I'm thinking of getting a newer 911 later in the year, and I am also presuming that the 993 values will be mostly unaffected by the new car.

What do you think?

Eh...996 values are pretty poor anyway, I reckon when the 997 comes out the 996 will drop down even more towards 993 prices....good for potential buyers...not so good for our upgrade strategy

Thats exactly my thoughts, 996 drops close to 993 suits me perfectly. I guess that the values would start to flatline then as its unlikely that the 996 could fall below the 993 values!

When is the 997 out, and whats with the prancing horse Noony??!!

997 late 2004 as a 2005 model I think?

The reason for the prancing horse is secret for now :D

Is there a defector in our midst??

Depends if a 360 will fit in our garage. If not, then a GT3.

Suppose a CS could be forgiven on sweet noise alone!

They are wide buggers though, not a small car by any means, and must be a nightmare on narrow roads - not like the 911!

Not a CS, much too harsh for daily driving! And the cost of those brakes is enough to put anyone off. On an enzo a set of 4 calipers, rotors and pads will cost $80k!

360 - daily driver?? running costs??

I'm afraid that a 360 is not the same anyday useable supercar that the GT3 is. Its a fair weather occasional use 2nd or 3rd car and won't like having a lot of miles put on it (neither will its value!).

It will only get about 5k miles a year
And the running costs? Will probably cause us to go back to porsche afterwards, but you've got to do it once :)

I think the 997 will help 993 values because of the similar looks. OK, maybe I'm a bit biased and there is some wishful thinking!

Regarding 996 values versus 993 values; there are times when you will see a 996 being cheaper than a 993, infact when I bought my 993 C2S, I could have bought a 996 which was a year and a bit younger (similar mileage) for the same money (from the same dealer). :D

I suppose its all relative model for model though, where a 97 993 C2 with av. miles will be cheaper than a 98 996 C2 with av. miles.

If 993 values hold, its all the better for me as it means less cash towards a newer car (which is my main motivation for a 996).
