I have just bought a 2004 997 C2 which has the factory fitted in car phone which takes a standard sim card in a retractable slot. I have tried various network sim cards but cannot get it to work. Any ideas welcome.

I have a Vodafone 3G pay as you go sim in mine, works great. :)

OP what message is it giving you?

I struggled until I found out that you cant use a 3G sim -vodaphone PAYG for me too

O2 works for me.

I don't think Orange / EE cards work as they are on a different frequency.

I have an O2 PAYG 2G card in mine and it works just fine. Not sure PCM 2.1 can take 3G but others seem to suggest it can.

I think pure 3G SIMs won't work.

I tried and failed with 3 and T-Mobile before using O2 which works fine.

I'm guessing that O2 and Vodaphone are probably 2G/3G

My orange (business) account, now EE works fine. I have two sims & one number for mobile & carphone. The phone does 3G so I expect the one in the car could too.
