997.2 Rear Lights

Hi Everyone.

I’m a new owner of a 997 GTS with classic clear rear lights.

Sadly one has a lens that has parted from the body of the tail light and fills with water when the car is washed.

My question is what experience does anyone have of the ULO tail lights that are commonly available at about half the price of the Porsche part numbered item. My understanding is that ULO manufacture the OEM item. Is there a difference in quality?

Thanks

When I had my 997.2 I replaced the rear lights for ULO units for the same reason. Look identical to the original parts but as you say less expensive. I suspect ULO manufacture the OEM parts.
Regards
Andrew

I bought a pair of Tequipment originals from OPC Wolverhampton last year, p/n 99704490006: which were less than the OE matched. I did wait over a year for them though.

Have a read of this too: Condensation in rear lights .. is there a fix ? I appreciate it's not a condensation problem you have, more of a swimming pool issue; which is also discussed.

Whichever you purchase, have them wrapped in PPF.

If you’re going to have a go at PPF’ing them it might be worth applying some crack sealant first. I’ve heard good things about ‘Captain Tolley’s Creeping Crack Cure’.
Good luck
